WWE star John Cena to host ESPY Awards

Fifteen-time WWE world heavyweight champion John Cena will host the 2016 ESPYs on July 13, ESPN announced Thursday.

Cena will make his long awaited (by the 7-12 year olds) return to "Monday Night Raw" on Memorial Day night.

Are you happy to hear that John Cena has been tapped to host the 2016 ESPYS? I'm going in there as appreciative of the athletes as everyone watching the show.

Despite all his ventures outside of WWE, however, Cena said he has no intention of hanging up his jorts and sneakers anytime soon.

This year's ESPYS will kick off with The ESPYS Countdown Show Presented by Capital One airing from 5-6 p.m., followed by SportCenter at The ESPYS from 6-7 p.m. and The ESPYS Countdown Presented by Capital One from 7-8 p.m. on ESPN.

Cena has branched out into acting and is host and executive producer of "American Grit", a new military-inspired competition series on Fox. I just want to do the show justice.

Cena's film career has begun to flourish thanks to acclaimed appearances in hit comedies such as Trainwreck, Sisters and Daddy's Home.

"Honored and excited to host the 2016 ESPN ‪#‎ESPYs‬ Wednesday, July 13 will be a date to remember, I promise that", Cena said on Facebook. Awards are given to individuals and teams, as well as in specific sports and in overall athletics. Awards for the Top Play, Top Team, Top Player, and many more are seen during this summer show. "To be able to host an event like the ESPYS and be able to do all the things I've been fortunate enough to do outside of the WWE, and all the while still return to the WWE, hopefully it's a step in the right direction".
